Reaction to Newspaper Article

After reading the article, I would have to say that I agree with the author. Reading is vital in everyday living and whether everything is printed or done electronically, the skill is still needed. Personally, I would have to say that I am more of a watcher. I tend to get a better understanding. When listening, I sometimes drift off and therefore information is not obtained. For students, I think that listening, reading, and watching are all important. In the classroom, all of this skills are used rather it is having them watch a video, read a novel, or listen to something pertaining to the lesson. In today's schools, it seems as though students are more interested in watching because it is more entertaining and it will hold their attention.

Examples of blogs used in other schools in the U.S

This is a picture of Mr. Miller with his 10th grade English Class of Bradford High School in Bradford,CT.

Mr. Miller uses his blog to display information, homework assignments, and other assignments related to classwork. He also displays other resources that is useful. All of Mr. Miller's work adheres to the Bradford Public School's policy for computers. I thought that the links to the quizzes were very useful to the students as well as the teacher. It seems to be more convienent and faster.
Mr. Miller's 10th grade English Class

Here is a picture of some of the work done in Mr. B-G's English class at in high school in Massachusetts.

Like Mr. Miller's class, Mr. B-G's blog has examples of student's work, and a host of links to different educational sites. He has a special link for teachers and students for if they were to need any types of class handouts. Mr. B-G also has a section were he added all of the books from his library. One section that I found interesting was that of the different teacher blogs. This is useful in a way where other teachers can get an insight of how others are using their blogs as a educational tool.

ACCESS resources available for teachers

After reviewing the site, ACCESS is another resourceful site for educators. There are sources that allows teachers to come with creative ways of presenting their course of studies. It also provides remediation guides for high school students to pass the required graduation exams. The information given for teachers about additional technology to enhance instruction is very helpful. ACCESS and ALEX provides information for teachers that should make their job a lot easier.

Using ALEX in my classroom

As mentioned in the previous blog, Alex is an excellent resource for all teachers. As a future teacher, I plan to take full advantage of everything it has to offer. The different layouts of course of study and lesson plans will be very beneficial by cutting down on work that can be very time consuming. Also, the different web links that gives various kinds of assignments and activities. I would also put to use the personal workspace for storing and submitting lesson plans. With all of the resources available at this site, it will definitely insure a quality of learning for the students.

ALEX resources available to teachers

ALEX is an excellent resource for today's educators. It has lots of educational material that will be beneficial in making lesson plans, activities, and course of studies. There is a layout for lesson plans where all there is to be done is click on what you want it to consist of. This will not only be very helpful but less time consuming.
Other resources available are educational web links, personal workspace where teachers can create a workspace for storing and submitting lesson plans. There is also links of professional learning that gives information on development opportunities, teaching and learning tools, latest news, and much more. Distant Learning, which I think is an great tool, enables students statewide to engage in courses that they may not have access to in their schools. All of these resources seem to be very beneficial.

You Tube Movie About the Future reaction

After watching the movie, I found the information to be really surprising. With those predictions, the future is sure to be one that is very advanced. Advanced in a way that practically everything will or can be done by computer or some kind of technical device. Populations in the U.S and other countries as China will increase tremendously, as well as the labor force. All in all, we have to be prepared for whatever lies ahead us whether it be a year from now or twenty-five years from now.
